Ian chatted to one of the original members of Abba's backing band Ulf Anderson andmanaged to secure tickets to the show of the year! "Abba The Show"
The last time Ulf Anderson came to Manchester was in 1977, but he came back for "Abba The Show!" Ulf was part of the original Abba backing group and called all the way from Sweden to tell Ian all about it! Martin Fry popped in to have a chat with Ian! He's bringing his "Lexicon of Love" tour to Manchester this weekend and he brought in 3 pairs of tickets to give away!!

Not only did they get to see the girls in concert but they also got to mingle with a whole host of celebs at the star studded press night and champagne reception! 
We sent Amy and Livesey to make sure the night ran smoothly! Although Amy's celeb spotting skills let her down they did manage to bump into Kerry Katona, who was so full of cold she kept sneezing and wiping her hands through her hair! Yuck! The Nolans were amazing but it was Colleens two sons who stole the show with their warm up act!
Thanks to our chums at Debenhams we helped to combat the economic slowdown and gave you the chance to win some vouchers to spend in store! Ian, Dave and Amy spent the morning at Debenhams in Manchester playing "The Price Is Right" Well done to all of our winners who walked away with £10 gift vouchers, some CD's, a meal in the Debenhams Restaurant and for a lucky few- tickets to see "The Here & Now Tour" at the M.E.N

With flowers in his hair we barely recognised him but underneath the glossy hair and comedy tash it was our very own Mr Ian Roberts!!
Not so long ago it was a very special day........ the big man's birthday! Amy decorated the studio with balloons and banners and the team wore silly hats and ate lots of cake as Ian celebrated his 28th Birthday?? no that can't be right - it must be a typo!

A BIT ABOUT IAN
I grew up in Wythenshawe, and started playing records at the Baguley Hall youth Club, then started taking booking for mobile discos in and around Greater Manchester. After a few years at this I made the decision to follow my dream of becoming a radio presenter, and got volunteer work at Wythenshawe's FAB Radio!
Presenting at various “unofficial” radio stations, a position then came up at Magic's sister station Rock FM in Preston where I stayed for a decade working the afternoon shift and also presenting the evening show in Hull from Home in Stockport via ISDN
I joined Magic 1152 Manchester in 2002 and presented the drive time shift, relief cover for McDonald and Maguire & presented Magic999 weekend breakfast in Preston. Then When M&M moved to our sister station Key 103 for late night McDonald & Maguire I jumped at the chance to make a dream come true & become the morning host of Manchester’s Piccadilly Magic 1152!
