To mark the classic album’s 25th anniversary
A new documentary about the creation and influence of Paul Simon’s ‘Graceland’ will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah on 22nd January.
Directed by Joe Berlinger (Brother's Keeper, Metallica: Some Kind of Monster, the West Memphis Three/Paradise Lost trilogy), ‘Under African Skies’ sees Simon travel to South Africa to revisit the making of the groundbreaking record.
Alongside contributions from collaborators Ladysmith Black Mambazo it features exclusive interviews with anti-apartheid campaigners Quincy Jones, Harry Belafonte, Paul McCartney, David Byrne and Peter Gabriel.
Following its Sundance premiere, ‘Under African Skies’ will get its first UK outing on a major TV channel this spring. More details will be announced soon.
The documentary kicks off a landmark year for ‘Graceland’ which celebrates its 25th birthday later this summer.
In May, new editions of ‘Graceland’ will be released including a special anniversary box set featuring the original album, rare bonus tracks and the Director’s Cut of ‘Under African Skies’.
